Lesik comes from a desert city on the edge of a waste. Known by several names, a cosmopolitan area, the sapphire city is the crossroads of civilizations, trading through its control of the Central Passage. Magic is not uncommon, the remains of past civilizations scar the wastes, and war is unfortunately common, though it has not typically been common in the sapphire city.

Busking, bilking and as cover for pickpocketing would gradually turn into more detailed con games of covert hypnosis and subtle manipulation over the years as they learned and refined their trade.

While they have a decent grasp of sleight of hand, Lesik never achieved the level of cat burglary skills that some of his colleagues have managed.

Having a childhood where one learns to steal and pick pockets is all too common amongst the urchins of the sapphire city. Having one where you're groomed from a young age to learn how to manipulate people as you speak to them, leading their minds into being subtly disarmed by your words? Being of a species who often seem so friendly and engaging, while having a natural talent for working their way into people's confidences, and having the practical knowledge of how to induce a trance state? This does not often lead to a well adjusted adult.

Lesik grew up on the streets, and as such, learned early on who they could trust in this life, and who they could count on. In all likelihood, he would have likely remained in the thrall of their former 'mentor', had he not disappeared, murdered by one of their many victim's lovers. Lesik has seen the results of being too blatant, working too much in the open. The benefit of a decade's distance from that monster has left them with a strict pragmatism in how they conduct their life of crime. There are simply lines that there are not to be crossed.

Lesik's early teens were characterized by a few early audacious heists with a few of their compatriots from their old mentor's 'employ'. Lesik's learned quickly enough that their natural talents made it unnecessary to engage in the petty theft of their youth, instead turning their eye to more sophisticated confidence artistry and mental manipulation to drain their marks of their silver and gold. By their late teens, even this scheme of their's had shifted from that of a simple con-man, to a low level merchant, buying and selling, with many contacts in a variety of fields as he expanded on their skills in a desperate attempt to come across the ignorant urchin they truly were.

At the age of 22, having their useful, and growing, though still generally unprofitable legitimate interests supplemented and supporting their less legitimate works, Lesik was feeling like they were truly coming in to their own.
