Homeworld
Modern world, around about 2000s level of tech. But this is a world where magic has existed and evolved with technology. Sometimes one substitutes for the other, sometimes intermixed. As a result of this magic is integrated directly into society as just another job for those capable. A consequence is regions where natural magic are high, or risks of natural magic, make them uninhabitable for large population centers and are known as the untamed wilds.

Early Life
Nephrane was bone as the middle child, the son between two sisters. His sister Phara, is older by three years. His younger sister, Tarzine, is a year younger. Sadly his mother died in child birth with Tarzine.

Nephrane grew up mostly normal. Early in school his affinity for the arcane arts, more colloquially known as magic, was discovered with a powerful affinity towards wind magics. With his father's encouragement he was enrolled in a mage school to help refine this. Though he still held onto the few friends, as he never felt he fit in.
Awakening
When he was sixteen the reason he never felt he fit in was discovered. He was attacked and chased by some muggers looking to steal all he had, and worse. But a literal voice in his head began to speak and guide him. With not much to loose he followed the advice and nearly got away but was cornered. Following advice from the voice he recited an incantation that transformed his hands into powerful armored dragon claws and let him cut right through the attackers. After this the claws disappeared and he stumbled home in shock.

Once home he passed out from the exhaustion. In a lucid dream the voice apologized but had been trying to let Nephrane live a normal life. But given the risk to Nephrane's life the voice had to step in. The voice was shown to belong to an eastern dragon named Sigil. Sigil explained he and Nephrane were one in the same. That their dragon soul passed on and reincarnated each time they passed away, but different each time. Each incarnation was their own person, but the spirit of the previous incarnation would guide the next to unlocking their heritage if they chose to accept. The previous incarnation, Sigil in this case, could also communicate with any of the previous incarnations to gain their collective knowledge and experience to share with the current holder of their shared soul.
Mage
Having learned of his heritage and capabilities, Nephrane accepted and trained hard to perfect his magic, but also to learn the ways of a dragon. It wasn't an easy road on either front. But Nephrane managed, even gaining some friends along the way now that he better understood himself. Still an outsider but one her could understand at least, though he kept his dragon nature to himself. He graduated school and became an apprentice mage, using his arcane prowess to make a living and help other, especially in the untamed wilds. His training with Sigil vastly increased his personal energy capacity, allowing his mage work to accelerate but also gaining more power and control over his latent dragon abilities. It was on an expedition into some ruins he ran into what he thought was a yellow portal, but in reality it was a breach that pulled him into Infinitas.

      A head for numbers, usually can look and solve algebraic equations without aids.

    • Description:
      Knows properties of the arcane well through study, including mentally blocking many of magics more illusionary effects.

Parnormal Abilities
Air Elemental (Edit)
  • Description:
    Has vast control over wind and air in general. Able to move, concentrate, disperse, and filter composition of. Some techniques are an air shield of fast moving wind to protect oneself, bending and redirecting air effected spells, fall cushioning, applying fluid hammer effects with air, etc.
  • Limits:
    Direct effects weaken over distance. The effect is exponential from full effect up close to no effect.
    Living bodies block direct effects. (Thus cannot effect air already in someone's lungs)
  • Repercussions:
    Energy used for spells is the same used for dragon traits, see below, and has to be replenished slowly though rest and nourishment.
Dragon Traits (Edit)
  • Description:
    Nephrane can tap into his dragon spirit to enhance or transform himself. Requires a small rythmic incantation to activate, though for extra energy can be done through sheer force of will. Activations come in three levels
    Level 1 - Stays with human body, but enhances with traits. (Example: Strength, senses, etc) Not as powerful as a transformation for the same effect. Low activation energy, high maintenance energy.
    Level 2 - Transforms part of the body into dragon equivalent, though generally with human shape where applicable. (Examples: Hide, Bones, Teeth, Claws, etc) High activation energy, low maintenance energy.
    Level 3 - Full transformation into his dragon form. Very high activation energy, no maintenance energy.
  • Limits:
    Will deactivate when passed out (save level 3)
    If insuffienct energy will deactive and cannot be activated.
    Requires the ability to speak to use. (Silent activation is possible but triples energy requirements)
  • Repercussions:
    Level 1 requires little activation energy but can be sustained longer
    More traits activated at once will drain energy faster (except level 3)
    Each trait requires a certain amount of energy from Nephrane to activate, and a certain amount to maintain.


    Long Term: The longer level 3 is activated the more it becomes his natural form. Eventually human form will be lost as the transformation becomes permanent.
Regeneration (Edit)
  • Description:
    A permanent effect of his dragon heritage is regeneration.
  • Limits:
    Cannot regenerate from lethal damage. Can only heal at double normal healing rate. Requires good nutrition.
  • Repercussions:
    New limbs will never be the exact same as those replaced, similar to a lizard regrowing a limb.
Body Surrender (Edit)
  • Description:
    Nephrane can volunatrily surrender control of their body to Sigil.
  • Limits:
    Has to be agreed on by both Nephrane and Sigil. Either can break this any time.
    Sigil cannot activate level 3 or use Nephrance's wind magic. Sigil cannot use their original dragon shapes, only Nephrane's for level one and two traits.
    Passing out will end this.
  • Repercussions:
    Energy coasts for traits are doubled.
Sigil (Edit)
  • Description:
    Sigil is the spirit of Nephrane's last incarnation. As such Sigil is only in in Nepharne's mind but does help protect against mental attacks and damage.
  • Limits:
    Only can be heard by Nephrane, or someone else that gets into his mind.
Air Speak (Edit)
  • Description:
    Causes the air to vibrate in sound, primarily used to speak without having to physically talk.
  • Limits:
    Same as normal wind magic
  • Repercussions:
    Same as normal wind magic. Can't be used for dragon traits.
Dragon Fire (Edit)
  • Description:
    Only usuable in dragon form or with the fire trait active. Creates a hot blue fire from his maw that can melt steel steel in dragon form, though its much reduced with just fire traits active.
  • Limits:
    Traits limit it to to heat of a standard flamethrowers. Has limited fuel and can't maintain for more then 30 seconds in dragon form, 15 in traits.
    Range and spread are variable. A more conical burst up to 45 degrees has a 25 foot range, while a more narrow beam of fire has a range of up 150 feet.
    Temperature falls off as range increases. Above temperatures are within first 10% of range.
  • Repercussions:
    Takes ten minutes to fully recharge. Using a full blast can lead to exhaustion equivalent to running a marathon. Not immune to own fire past his mouth.

Looks like a fun and interesting character. I suggest giving more solid limitations and ranges to things, but overall looks good.
