Kelly was born on April 14, 1961 in Detroit. She was the only child of her parents, a stay-at-home mom and a software engineer. She spent most of her early life living under the flight paths of Detroit Metropolitan Airport, and when she was very little her dad would take her to the edge of the airport to watch the airplanes take off and land. As such, her dreams soon stretched to the sky as well.

Through high school, she kept her eye on several flight schools, although she knew her hopes were rather slim; airlines hired mostly male pilots in her time, and aviation school cost an arm and a leg. However, she knew her future belonged in the air. After graduating, she attended college at the University of Michigan, before dropping out her sophomore year. For a while during college, she worked as a barista at an on-campus coffee shop, learning and developing her brewing skills.

In 1982, she joined Republic Airlines as a flight attendant, and quickly made friends among crew members. When Republic was bought by Northwest Airlines, she stayed for the new airline, and suddenly her horizons expanded greatly. When not in the air, she lived in a one-bedroom apartment not far from the airport. She never had a very successful love life, losing her first boyfriend in high school and another at college. She is very professional in the air- office relations are a no-no.

Following the crash of a Northwest plane in Detroit that killed one of her friends, she made sure to keep in touch with her parents as often as possible- although a few times this resulted in her returning home faster than the letter she sent.

After surviving a plane crash of her own in 1988, Kelly was transported to a strange new place, with people and creatures from everywhere and everywhen. She eventually met a dragon-like creature, a Vilo, named Relo, and over time fell in love with him. They were married using his traditions on the shore of a lake.

Some time later, Relo sacrificed his wings to save a good friend, so he and Kelly embarked on a long journey for him to claim new ones. Although they were successful, the trip went wrong in the end... they missed their rift back home. Instead, they became trapped in a cavern that flooded with seawater. Despite her best efforts, Kelly could not save her husband, and she drowned, trapped beneath him under the surface.

However, she got a new life in a place called Nomania. She was now a full Vilo, like her husband- their biggest dream on the other world. After settling down to their new life, she got intimate with her husband, and is now the mother of six eggs.
