[22:47:39] <@Thomas> Every time we do a plot, we need to juggle all these remnant factors that predate our tenure as Ops and make it really hard for us to do anything creative and work freely. [22:47:47] <Arrow> eyeah. makes sense [22:49:00] <@Thomas> We've attempted a few ways around this such as the mainland and Silsbury island but... they get very little use because they are really far away and require people to have characters out of play for days at a time while we try to juggle the one Op that knows how that area works. [22:49:25] <@Thomas> Singh gets the ins and outs of Silsbury, Eli knows the ins and outs of the mainland, and Adreos and I can't quite follow either one very well. [22:49:50] <@Laleine> And for plots and stuff, the MAF is too well dug in and we always have to work around them. [22:50:11] <@Thomas> Right. A lot of player momentum is killed because the MAF can basically take care of anything. [22:50:45] <@Thomas> It's like in those super hero movies where the /first/ step of someone stepping up to the plate is believing that the police can't take care of it and they have to take matters into their own hands. [22:52:34] <@Thomas> So yeah, we've decided that we're going to do a bit of a reboot. Pull all of Marsillon and some assorted random things into a new universe that doesn't have all those features that we don't know what to do with. [22:52:51] <@Laleine> But as this is a big thing, and effects all players, we want people's input. [22:52:56] <@Laleine> Anything and everything. [22:53:13] <@`Rex> Afraid? Excited? Nervous? Eager? Let us know! [22:53:16] <@Thomas> Which as an added benefit will give the MAF a full time job that requires all their attention so they can't spare any attention on drop kicking plots before players can get involved. [22:54:05] <@Laleine> We are keeping just casual nondangerous play a thing and in mind for all players as we know there are people that like that, and like doing so to unwind after work. But we are opening up stuff for adventuring too, and developing new land. [22:54:22] <Singh_phone> We're hoping its also a way to get back to the old frontier spirit that inf used to have a long time ago [22:55:00] <@Thomas> Yeah, MAF's full time job is basically establishing an area that is fairly safe so characters that want to be social and not go on adventures can still do that in town. [22:55:06] <@`Rex> And just because your character isn't God, doesn't mean they can't join in on this Adventure and Exploration. [22:55:29] <@`Rex> We'll do our best to make sure that even low power characters can join the fun. [22:55:50] <@Laleine> There will be areas out there more dangerous then others. But this is of course to keep things varied for casual and hardcore adventures. And we aren't going to just shy away from players coming up with areas and towns, within reason. [22:56:00] <@Thomas> Yup. Our goal is that the choice of staying in town vs going exploring is based purely on character motivation and not at all based on character ability. [22:57:00] <@Laleine> That also said, if you have old characters you want to retire, or need to retire, we'll give a heads up before everything launches so they can be out of town. [22:57:15] <@`Rex> We're all in this boat together though, and all of us ops are on the same page, so if any of you have any questions, ask any one of us (or more than one!) and we'll do our best to answer them. ^.^ As information is decided we will update this topic with it.
